What Is EllyPop?
EllyPop stands for Electrolyte Freezer Pop, and that's exactly what it is: a shake-and-freeze pop made with organic fruit juice, herbal tea, and essential electrolytes, formulated by naturopathic doctors right here in Portland, Oregon. We built EllyPop to be a gentler, more natural way to support hydration, originally with kids in mind, but honestly, loved by adults too.
Each box comes with 6 pops, and the rehydrating serving size is 2 pops. Just shake, freeze, and enjoy whenever your family needs a boost.
The Story Behind EllyPop
EllyPop was born out of a real need, seen firsthand in a pediatric clinic.
Back in 2017, co-founder Dr. Amanda Watters was working in pediatric primary care during her residency, and she kept running into the same problem: kids get dehydrated fast, and parents needed something gentle, natural, and genuinely easy to reach for. As a naturopathic doctor, Dr. Amanda often recommended homemade herbal tea pops to the families she worked with, things like ginger tea for an upset tummy, or chamomile to help little ones wind down. They worked, but they also asked a lot of busy parents who didn't have time to brew and freeze tea themselves.
That gap between "what actually helps" and "what's realistic for real families" is where the idea for EllyPop began.
Dr. Amanda brought that idea to Dr. Jackie Kirihara, a fellow naturopathic doctor she met while attending the same doctorate program. Dr. Jackie was drawn to the vision right away, pairing her own entrepreneurial energy with Dr. Amanda's clinical insight to help turn a homemade remedy into a real, ready-made product. After years of development, that original idea became a reality in 2025 with the launch of our two flavors: Wild Cherry and Sweet Peach.
Meet the Founders
Dr. Amanda Watters, CEO, first imagined EllyPop while working in pediatric primary care, watching firsthand how quickly children can become dehydrated and how much families needed convenient, trustworthy options on hand. Alongside her focus on hydration, she's long been passionate about finding creative ways to bring the benefits of herbal tea to people who'd never sit down for a hot cup of it, kids especially, but plenty of grown-ups too.
Dr. Jackie Kirihara, CMO, is also a licensed naturopathic doctor and midwife, currently practicing at an integrative functional medicine clinic in Portland, Oregon, and teaching in the Pediatrics course at the National University of Natural Medicine. Her passion for helping families think differently about children's health took root while attending her doctorate program alongside Dr. Amanda, and she's brought that same energy, heart, and authenticity to building the EllyPop brand from the ground up. She's also a proud mom of two EllyPop-loving daughters, so she knows this product from both sides of the counter.
Both doctors continue to practice clinically today, which means the EllyPop formula isn't just doctor-approved on paper, it's shaped by what they continue to see working with real patients and real families, every single week.
What's Inside Every Pop
We built EllyPop around three simple, intentional ingredients:
- Organic fruit juice — naturally sweet, with enough natural mineral content to support electrolyte needs
- Herbal tea — the same kind of functional, generations-old remedy grandmothers have sworn by, just in a form kids will actually ask for
- Essential electrolytes — added specifically to support real hydration, not just to flavor a sports drink
No artificial dyes, no unnecessary additives. Just organic fruit juice, herbal tea, and electrolytes, working together. That's why we describe EllyPop as functional, not just flavored.
EllyPop is also certified organic, vegan, and kosher. One important note: EllyPop is a supplement, not a food, so if you ever have specific health questions, we always recommend checking with your pediatrician or healthcare provider.
Meet the Flavors
EllyPop currently comes in two flavors, each with its own personality:
- Wild Cherry — because sometimes your throat needs a little love
- Sweet Peach — because sometimes it's your tummy that needs the love
Both are formulated with the same organic fruit juice, herbal tea, and electrolyte base, just in two delicious directions.
Not Just for Kids
While EllyPop was originally inspired by a need Dr. Amanda saw in pediatric care, we want to be clear: this isn't a kids-only product. Gentle, natural hydration support benefits people of all ages, busy parents very much included. A lot of our community is made up of adults who just wanted a better option than sugary sports drinks or artificially flavored electrolyte products, and found EllyPop instead.

You may have already noticed our resident elephant, Elly, showing up across our packaging and social media. She's the friendly face of EllyPop, and the inspiration behind our name (Elly, for electrolyte, plus Pop, for freezer pop). Elly is also the heart behind The Herd, our name for the growing community of EllyPop lovers who've supported this brand since the beginning.
